The Philadelphia Flute Quartet delivers! A big “thank you” to the PFQ for generously sharing their time, talent and heart for the special “VIP event” for individuals with disabilities of Central Florida. “Flutes, Figaro and Frozen” was a memorable evening of music and fun which included classical standards, a Disney favorite and a patriotic classic. Who knew that bubble wrap popping in the hands of 50 people could sound just like fireworks?!
The PFQ was committed to insuring that the evening would be relevant and memorable for the audience and they concertedly solicited our input on how to best do that. From learning a newer Disney classic to play per special request, to accommodating their performance allowing for fun audience participation with musical instruments, the Philadelphia Flute Quartet did deliver…. well above and beyond.
Thank you, again, PFQ. You made a difference.
The Pocono Flute Camp opens each year with a concert, usually by a local group. This year (2018) we invited the Philadelphia Flute Quartet in to open the week. They were amazing! They presented a program that was a perfect start to the week – not too serious, not too much pops. Our campers loved it and I heard nice comments all week during the camp. The follow-up workshop was also a highlight of the week. We hope to have them back again for future camps.
So many thanks to the Philadelphia Flute Quartet for their performance at the Free Library. They filled our department with wonderful music and talent to share with our patrons. We can’t wait to have them here again!” Thank you again, I mean every word!
My sincerest thanks to Tom, Christine, Anne and Kathleen for performing in our new concert series. Their presentation was beautifully done and very well received by our audience. We are looking forward to the Philadelphia Flute Quartet’s scheduled performance as our season opener, for another outstanding concert.
Kathy Brown, Christine Hansen, Anne Levinson and Tom Meany are accomplished, stellar, professional musicians with an individualistic style. Put them together in this unique flute quartet and you have a performing group that explodes with harmony and sonority added to an exceptionally significant repertoire. The Philadelphia Flute Quartet’s time has arrived! Contemporary, yet grounded in the classics with beautifully chosen performance locations that enhance their aesthetic while feasting the eyes. A must hear and see.
The Philadelphia Flute Quartet performed a wonderful concert at Laurel Hill Mansion’s Concerts by Candlelight. The virtuosity of the performance and the variety of music played was just what was called for to make it an enjoyable evening of music. The audience responded enthusiastically to their musicianship and repartee. We hope to see the quartet at Laurel Hill Mansion in the future.
Bravo to the Philadelphia Flute Quartet! It’s been an impressive delight to hear your performances swing and bubble with gusto and elegance! Philadelphia is fortunate to have you as part of the music scene playing music by locally-based composers as well as the rich standard repertoire.
The Philadelphia Flute Quartet is a great sounding group of seasoned music professionals who bring to each performance their years of experience and their superior musicianship …I am delighted every time I hear them perform one of my pieces! Bravo PFQ!
“The Philadelphia Flute Quartet has performed my composition, One for Four, on several occasions. They perform it beautifully and their concerts are always entertaining.”
“My discovery of the Philadelphia Flute Quartet happily coincided with taking up my flute again in later life, and hearing them perform was—and continues to be –inspirational. The virtuosity of the quartet’s playing and the variety of music they perform makes every performance both pleasurable and educational. The quartet’s members have also been generous in contributing their time and talent to enriching the greater Philadelphia cultural community and they genuinely care about bringing music to all people who live and work in the area.”
“The Philadelphia Flute Quartet’s incredibly talented members, Thomas Meany, Christine Hansen, Kathleen Brown and Anne Levinson give listeners a wonderful ensemble of the flute, piccolo, alto and bass flute. There is a lot of flashing of silver as the players switch out from one instrument to the next between pieces both classical, Broadway and jazz. I have to admit I didn’t think I would be a fan of a flute ensemble but the Philadelphia Flute Quartet has won me over with their sound – so rich with the alto and bass flutes but also perfectly in sync. The blend is just perfect. And their choices of arrangements are excellent. Go see them if you get a chance. It is a satisfying, relaxing and exciting experience for all the senses!”
